Who does the work
People
The laboratory is made up of lecturer-researchers, undergraduate and graduate students, and collaborators from other institutions.
Principal investigator
Responsible for the laboratory's scientific direction, for managing its projects and for its relationship with the School of Physics.
-
MSc. Luis Alberto Montoya Portugal
Principal investigator
Solar thermal and photovoltaic energy, wind energy and atmospheric studies.
He leads the laboratory and its research programme. His work has focused on the real behaviour of grid-connected photovoltaic systems in the Arequipa climate, on testing solar thermal systems according to the Peruvian Technical Standard, and on developing in-house instruments to assess the solar and wind resource where commercial equipment cannot reach.
Education and career
- Bachelor's degree (Licenciatura) in Physics, National University of San Agustín of Arequipa.
- Master's degree in Physics, National University of San Agustín of Arequipa.
- PhD candidate in Environmental Sciences and Technologies, National University of San Agustín of Arequipa.
- Photovoltaic solar energy
- Solar thermal energy
- Solar resource and UV radiation
Researchers
They run the research lines, operate the instruments, publish the results and supervise the students.
